People may not know how to describe the fix, but they know when something sounds "off." Trust your ears.

Muting Before Patching

Tap a channel strip's on-screen MUTE, or select multiple channels and mute as a block before cabling.

Consider a temporary DCA/Mute Group for "everything being patched today" for one-tap control.

DCA Groups vs. Mute Groups

DCAs control level for a set of channels (e.g., "all vocals").

Mute Groups one-tap-mute a fixed set of channels — this is what our Sermon/Closing setup uses.
Note:
Whether muting a DCA also mutes aux/monitor sends is configurable per DCA — confirm in rehearsal so musicians don't lose their IEMs unexpectedly.

A channel joins a Mute Group via its Config page ("Mute Grp"). Recheck assignments weekly — a channel added for a special number can get left out of, or stuck in, Group 5 or 6.
